On the surface, most people see Iodine as having a reputation for being rude, cantankerous, and honestly a bit of a salty bitch. She's usually fairly asocial and doesn't talk to others all too often, but when she does, she somehow seems to find a reason to argue with everything, and just about every other sentence she says is some sort of spitefully sassy or sarcastic remark. It probably goes wthout saying, she's not great with people.
Though inside, she's not quite as unlikeable as her prickly demanour might lead some to think. She's very passionate and she does have a good heart, even if she struggles to show it. Her outer layer of thorns is a barrier behind which she hides her sadness. She's scared of being vulnerable, and so finds it hard to open up to others. She's very lonely, yet she constantly pushes people away. Easier to avoid your problems than to face them, after all. Escapism seems to be her default coping mechanism. She often finds herself wishing she could lose hersef in a fantasy world.
However, she also has a tendency to dwell in her dark thoughts. She has a lot of self-loathing and a past of self-destructive behavior she's trying hard to break away from, but it's easier said than done. She's beginning to come to terms with the fact that her unhealthy mindset is harmful to herself and others, that her pain and loneliness is self-imposed and self-perpetuated. She wants to learn to be a better person, she's really trying, but she needs to learn to love herself first.
